Your accounts are some of the most sensitive data in the business: margins, customers, suppliers, bank balances. So "is it safe?" is the right first question before seeing Tally online. Here is a practical checklist you can use for any product, including ours.
1. Is the data encrypted on the way?
Everything between your office and the web — and between the web and your phone — should travel over HTTPS, the same encryption your bank uses. Check for the padlock in the browser. With SwastikOne, the connector and every screen use HTTPS.
2. Does each business see only its own data?
An online service holds data for many businesses. Ask how one business is kept apart from another. In SwastikOne each business sees only its own data, and every request is checked against the signed-in account.
3. Does every person have their own login?
Shared passwords are the most common weakness in small offices. When someone leaves, you cannot tell who did what, and you cannot remove one person without changing everyone's password. Give each person their own login and remove it the day they leave.
4. Can you limit what people do?
Most people only need to look. A Read Only plan lets them see reports while nothing in TallyPrime can be changed from the web. Allow voucher entry only where it is needed.
5. What actually leaves your office?
With SwastikOne, TallyPrime and your company data stay on your PC. The connector sends a copy of the reports — the figures you choose to see on the web. Your ledger is not moved, and Tally keeps working the same way.
6. Protect the phone and the browser
- Use a screen lock on every phone that opens your accounts.
- Do not tick "Remember me" on a shared or public computer.
- Always sign out on a computer that is not yours.
- Use a strong password you do not use anywhere else. If you forget it, use "Forgot password" — the reset link works once and expires after an hour.
7. Keep your Tally PC healthy
- Take regular Tally backups, and keep one copy outside the office.
- Keep Windows and antivirus updated on the TallyPrime PC.
- Limit who can sit at that PC — it is still where your ledger lives.
Quick checklist
- HTTPS everywhere — yes / no
- Separate login for each person — yes / no
- Read Only for people who only need to see — yes / no
- Logins removed when people leave — yes / no
- Regular Tally backups — yes / no
If you can answer "yes" to all five, seeing your Tally reports on the phone is safer than the WhatsApp screenshots most businesses rely on today.
